i heart ... beauty tips

i love finding good beauty advice.
sephora's blog,
beauty and the blog,
recently had some great tips.
here are my favorites
(and i've added a few of my own):

*for lipstick that lasts forever:
use a lip pencil instead of lipstick,
then apply a lip balm over it so your lips won't feel dry.

*add a teaspoon of poppy seeds to any lotion - taa daa!
you've got a skin-softening scrub.

*apply your sunscreen 30 minutes before heading outside,
and then again every 2 hours.
(i am seriously all about the sunscreen!!!)

*make this moisture-quenching hair mask:
1/2 an avocado + 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
leave on locks for 20 mins, then rinse.

*love your shampoo but hate buildup?
mix a teaspoon of cider vinegar
into your shampoo bottle every other month.
(the only problem with this tip is you are not going to smell very good!)

*an extra coat of mascara at the outer corners of the eyes
will help visually lift your peepers!

*you already know to condition hair from mid shaft down.
but if you've got really oily/fine hair, condition first, wash second!

*heat your eyelash curler for a few seconds
with the hairdryer...
helps curl better and hold better!
(i have totally done this and it works very well,
except you have to be careful not to burn yourself!)

*always use primer potion before applying shadow!

and my very, very favorite beauty advice:

***use phillips milk of magnesia as a face mask
to firm, tighten pores and minimize oiliness.

do you have any great beauty tips???

p.s.
this is my 100th post!
which is not actually a lot,
but 100 is still a milestone!

  1. Paula,

I use the milk of magnesia tip but I originally learned it from you! I love these tips...

  2. And I learned it from Beverly Johnson when she was a guest on Oprah. If it's good enough for her it's good enough for me!!!

  3. Thanks for sharing those tips!!! "add a teaspoon of poppy seeds to any lotion - taa daa!" Was the most helpful! The only tips I have is to boiling a kettle then add 4 PEPPERMINT tea bags and you've got yourself a foot soak! Haha :) xx
