i heart ... adam and stephanie

it's always such a bummer when the concert is over.
luckily we took hundreds of pictures
and some video too
and they help to soothe my sorrow...
boo-hoo!
this is one of my favorite videos.
(more to come later!)
stephanie was waving to adam
and he looked right at her and gave a little nod and a smile!!!
it's the sweetest!
(it's very subtle, so you might have to watch it a couple of times...)

video

p.s.

this video was taken on my digital camera, that's why it's not that great of quality, but i love it because it shows how close we were because my camera does not even zoom in on motion picture mode! we really were that close!!!

what to say?
i don't know what to say.

there's too much to say!
i guess i'll let my pictures do the talking.

set list:
breathe
get on your boots
magnificent
mysterious ways
beautiful day
i still haven't found what i'm looking for
stuck in a moment
no line on the horizon
elevation
in a little while
unknown caller
until the end of the world
unforgettable fire
city of blinding lights
vertigo
i'll go crazy - remix
sunday bloody sunday
mlk
walk on
one
where the streets have no name
ultraviolet
with or without you
moment of surrender

"jolly good jeans you're wearing!"
(that's for you, brook)

i heart ... general conference

general conference weekend is my favorite.
it's so relaxing and enjoyable.
and my family comes over
and we eat good food.

here are my general conference highlights:

President Monson announcing new temples in
brigham city, utah; concepciĆ³n, chile; fortaleza, brazil;
fort lauderdale, florida; and sapporo, japan

David A. Bednar telling us we can be more
diligent and concerned at home by:
1) expressing our love - and showing it.
2) bearing our testimony - and living it.
3) being consistent.

Dieter F. Uchtdorf asking, "how do we become true disciples of Christ?"
answer, "if ye love Me, keep my commandments."
also,
Elder Uchtdorf's quote that,
"though we are incomplete,
God loves us completely."

Dallin H. Oaks' talk on "love and law":
"His choicest blessings are reserved for
those who keep His commandments."

Robert D. Hales - "your personal knowledge of God
is not only the greatest gift you will ever give,
but it will bring you the greatest joy you will ever have."

Ann M. Dibb's conversation with her father -
"one evening I was feeling a bit discouraged and said,
'oh, dad, the blessings we experience as members of the church
and the promised blessings of the temple are so good,
if we will only reach out and choose to accept them.'
he responded without hesitation,
'ann, they are everything.' "

Russell M. Nelson's advice on how to receive personal revelation -
1) to access information from heaven, one must first have a firm faith and a deep desire. one needs to “ask with a sincere heart [and] real intent, having faith in [Jesus] Christ.”
“real intent” means that one really intends to follow the divine direction given.
2)The next requirement is to study the matter diligently.
3)the Lord asks you to develop “faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God.” then with your firm “faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, [and] diligence,” you may ask, and you will receive; you may knock, and it will be opened unto you.

President Thomas S. Monson's story about a family
where every night around the dinner table
the father would ask,
"and what did you do for someone today?"

Jeffrey R. Holland's whole talk is one big highlight!
oh my!
powerful!
"i ask that my testimony of the Book of Mormon and all that it implies, given today under my own oath and office, be recorded by men on earth and angels in heaven. i hope i have a few years left in my 'last days,' but whether i do or do not, i want it absolutely clear when i stand before the judgment bar of God that i declared to the world, in the most straightforward language i could summon, that the Book of Mormon is true, that it came forth the way Joseph said it came forth and was given to bring happiness and hope to the faithful in the travail of the latter days."

and last, but not least,
i loved, loved, loved
the mormon tabernacle choir's performance of
"O Divine Redeemer"

i heart ... it might get loud

i just went to see "it might get loud" with my brother brad.
i enjoyed every minute!
you will too if you love music.
it follows the edge, jimmy page and jack white
as they tell us how they came to be where they are today.

my favorite moments:

*the edge visiting mount temple school in dublin
where U2 met and formed.

*the edge showing the bulletin board at school
where larry posted a note
inviting students to come try out for his band.

*the white stripes performing at an old folks home!

*the edge telling how the first guitar he owned
was one that he and his brother made themselves -
they actually hand carved it!

*the edge, jimmy page and jack white playing "i will follow" together.

*jack white telling of when he was young
and worked as an upholsterer
and how the guy he worked with introduced him
to punk and the blues.
then they formed a band
and called themselves
the upholsterers!!!

*jack white writing a song right before our very eyes.
and he makes it look so easy.

i heart ... this rainbow cake

i found this cool cake on omnomicon.
i fell in love.
mostly i fell in love with how
it would blow the minds
of my nieces and nephews.
('cause you know i'm all about my nieces and nephews!)
i made it today for our sunday family dinner.
and it worked.
their minds were blown.

yes, i am aware of what this looks like.

omnomicon's rainbow cake

2 boxes white cake mix
24 oz. of clear diet soda (like diet sprite)
gel food coloring
(the recipe doesn't call for it, but i added 2 teaspoons coconut flavoring!)
whatever icing you want
(i used whipped cream)

1)mix the cake mixes with the diet soda. it will be lumpy. follow the instructions on the box (besides the oil, eggs...).
2) get out 6 bowls, for the 6 colors of batter. put an even amount of batter into each bowl (a little less than 1 1/2 cups per bowl).
each bowl needs its own spoon!
3) stir colors into each bowl. it takes a lot of food coloring!

4) spray the pans very well. drop first color into pan. drop 2/3 cup at a time. drop it like you would pancake batter.
drop the next color in the center, right on top of the first. you can choose the order of the colors.(omnomicon did red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple...and then the opposite in the other pan. hers looked better than mine, so i'm doing mine her way next time!)
do not stir the colors!!! leave them alone!!!

5) bake according to package directions, but might need an extra 5 or 10 min. because of the soda. let it cool completely before removing to wire rack.

and finally, look at this cool view from the bottom!

well, it's back

you may be asking,
"what is engrish?"
this is engrish:
"engrish can be simply defined as the humorous english mistakes that appear in japanese advertising and product design."
'nuff said.
