i heart ... the claw

U2 posted this video on their website today.
i love getting a glimpse of the show from this angle
because for us
"the claw" was not so much a part of the show.
we were really close to the stage
(no complaints whatsoever!)
so for us it was just U2 on stage
which is exactly what i like.
but it's still cool to see the view from
farther back and getting the full effect of the 360 show.

i heart ... adam and stephanie

it's always such a bummer when the concert is over.
luckily we took hundreds of pictures
and some video too
and they help to soothe my sorrow...
boo-hoo!
this is one of my favorite videos.
(more to come later!)
stephanie was waving to adam
and he looked right at her and gave a little nod and a smile!!!
it's the sweetest!
(it's very subtle, so you might have to watch it a couple of times...)

p.s.

this video was taken on my digital camera, that's why it's not that great of quality, but i love it because it shows how close we were because my camera does not even zoom in on motion picture mode! we really were that close!!!

paula ...

last night.
we
(me, stephanie, brook, joe & brad)
for last night!
what to say?
i don't know what to say.

there's too much to say!
i guess i'll let my pictures do the talking.

set list:
breathe
get on your boots
magnificent
mysterious ways
beautiful day
i still haven't found what i'm looking for
stuck in a moment
no line on the horizon
elevation
in a little while
unknown caller
until the end of the world
unforgettable fire
city of blinding lights
vertigo
i'll go crazy - remix
sunday bloody sunday
mlk
walk on
one
where the streets have no name
ultraviolet
with or without you
moment of surrender

"jolly good jeans you're wearing!"
(that's for you, brook)

the end.

(do i or don't) i heart ... the bono bag

i saw a tote bag at walmart today

with this image on it.

my first reaction was, "yay, bono!"

my second reaction was, "i'm not sure i approve of this."

my third reaction was, "oh no, not the chest hair!"

i'm really not sure what to think.

part of me wants to buy it of course because it's bono!

but part of me thinks it's in bad taste.

(and it's not bono's bad taste, it's rolling stone's)

but it's bono!

i feel like i should have it

even if i never go out in public with it.

and to be totally honest,

part of my issue is that this bag is being sold at walmart.

if it was target i would be okay with it.

yes, i'm shallow.

i need your help because i don't know what to do.

buy it

or

don't buy it.

so here goes my first poll.

wanna help me decide?

p.s.

well, the poll is now closed

and here are the results of the poll:

The Bono Bag

Buy it!
(61%)

Do not go near that bag!
(38%)

i bought it!

i heart ... no line on the horizon

okay. so, the verdict
i'm sure you've been dying to know.
i'm not gonna lie
i love it!

i'm sure you're thinking,
"well, of course she loves it. paula loves U2 more than anything in the world,"
(which is not quite true, actually, but close!)
but, no, it's not that simple.
everytime U2 comes out with a new album i am nervous about whether i will like it or not.
wonder if i didn't like it? what a tragic turn of events that would be!
but happily, once again, they have lived up to my expectations.
yay!

my favorites on the album are:
no line on the horizon
magnificent
standup comedy
i'll go crazy if i don't go crazy tonight
stand up comedy
white as snow
breathe
cedars of lebanon
and even, get on your boots. yes, it's true. i love it.
i will admit that the first time i heard it i only felt like it was an okay song,
but it has totally grown on me and now i love it! i love edge's guitar and adam's bass!

i heart ... U2, risotto and chocolate cake!

brook and i had another recipe exchange.
we turned it into a listening party for "no line on the horizon".
what do i think of "no line on the horizon"?

stay tuned!

for our recipe exchange i made "risotto con mozzarella affumicata"
from trattoria cooking by biba caggiano.

i love risotto and i have wanted to try making it for a long time.

hurrah for the recipe exchange because it gave me the courage to finally try.

and it was easy, after all. just lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of stirring!

brook made italian chocolate mousse cake.
yum!

here's the recipe for the risotto:

risotto con mozzarella affumicata

6 cups chicken broth, preferably homemade
5 tbls. unsalted butter
1 small onion, finely minced
2 cups imported italian arborio rice!!! (molto importante)
1 cup dry white wine (but i used apple juice)
3 oz. smoked mozzarella or smoked gouda, cut into small pieces
1/3 cup freshly grated parmigiano
2 tbls. chopped fresh italian parsley
salt, to taste

heat broth in medium size saucepan and keep warm over low heat.

melt 4 tbls. butter in large saucepan over medium heat. when butter foams, add onion and cook, stirring, until onion is pale yellow and soft, 3 to 4 minutes.

add rice and cook until well coated with butter and onion, about 1 minute.

add apple juice and cook, stirring constantly, until juice is almost all reduced.

add just enough broth to barely cover rice. cook, still over medium heat, stirring constantly, until broth is almost completely absorbed.

continue cooking and stirring in this manner (stir constantly until almost all broth is absorbed, then add just enough broth to barely cover rice, then stir constantly until almost all absorbed, add more broth, and on and on...)

continue in this manner until rice is tender, but firm to bite, about 16 minutes.

add a last small bit of broth, then the mozzarella, the remaining 1 tbls. of butter, and the parmigiano.

stir energetically (this gives the risotto its ultimate velvety, creamy consistency) for less than a minute. stir in parsley.

lightly salt.

serve immediately!
